Consent to perform extractions and necessary procedures

During the anesthesia and dental cleaning, a doctor will carefully evaluate all teeth of your pet's mouth. Some teeth may need to be extracted due to severe loosening, decay, or dental disease. Sometimes, when a large tooth or a tooth with a longer or larger root is extracted, the hole/cavity (alveolus) connecting to the jaw bone may need to be sealed.

This procedure consists of the doctor packing the area with a bone graft-like material where the tooth was pulled and suturing the gum line. This protects the jaw bone from weakening or decaying over time which may lead to fractures and/or subsequent dental problems.
